The Truth Hurts Worse than Anything He Could do to You

The Truth Hurts Worse than Anything He Could do to You

I watch you sitting
Out on your porch.
You wrap your arms around your legs
And rock yourself back and forth.

Burying your face
Deep into your arms
You feel as though
This is the only place you'll find calm.

I walk towards the porch
And you look up at me.
The tears falling from your eyes
Blurs everything you see.

I sit down beside you
And put an arm around your waist.
You turn to look at me,
And I watch the tears roll down your face.

"He left me," you say
Through your tears.
"I thought he loved me"
You scream, blocking your ears.

Tears well up in my eyes
As I listen to you cry.
I wish I could tell you
That it's only this one guy.

But I know better
Than to lie about this.
I know you'll always remember
The feeling of his kiss.

You'll always look back
And wonder why.
Then you'll realise
That "Love" is just a lie.

Every man will play
Games with your heart;
Don't fall for it;
Don't let it tear you apart.

No matter what I try to say
To help you through,
The truth hurts worse than anything
He can ever do to you.
