If I Could Be Like That

by Beautiful Chaos   Nov 21, 2007

Who knows what's ahead,
None can say for sure,
Only death is certain,
Birth is when we're pure.

With time we are tainted,
Innocence the cost,
Nothing left of yesterday,
Inside, feeling lost.

Strangers passing in the street,
Search for greener grass,
But problems happen everywhere,
Rich or working class.

If you can't like who you are,
No matter what you've got,
You'll never find enough to fill,
That aching, empty spot.

Love yourself and dare to dream,
Reach for every star,
The only thing you have to be,
Is everything you are.
