Flashback

by FountainsOfBlood   Nov 21, 2007

How can you define a flashback?
A painful memory
That rips through every second
Every ounce of blood
Makes you stop and freeze-
An illustration from a picture book (thought suitable for children)

I have to push out
Push back, I can't relax
The devil's touch and butterfly kisses
Wash over like the water of Original Sin
It does not erase from the mind
And is always there, making us guilty

For one moment of your pleasure
Gives me one lifetime of my pain
And the flashbacks return...
It's not my fault! I must be strong!
I can do this! Fight it!
And all along, I cannot believe myself

There's something to hide
Therefor I am guilty...
Self inflicted, self influenced pain
Overwhelming and suffocating
The story of a flashback
I can, every time, avoid

No doubt everyone has something they regret doing no matter how pure or saintly they say they are, and it eats at them everyday. you did an amazing job at putting this into words and comparing it to a christian sinning was a great idea. great work 5/5
