Ode to an Angel

by Lulu goth   Nov 23, 2007

At the Arabian night, yielding,
Like a kind mother's heart
Peeks the face of the gentle morning
Soft breezes blow in, push the curtains apart

Slowly at the foot of the bed
I look upon a child of the heavens
Face like a cherub, gaze of stars
A beauty never seen before, I sense

The morning comes at its high peak
The buoyant birdsongs are loud for a while
In the distance the darkness of the forest
Upon my lips, forms a smile

But where is that heaven-sent angel
That framed in the soft sunlight of this morn
So lovingly caressed my cheek
And gifted me the sentiment of a new-born

Here they leave now
The exquisite scenery I once fell into deep affection for
The fine, jovial laughter of the angel by my side
The fresh, budding red roses are no more

Ay, have I dreamt it all
The beauty of the blooming flowers
The healthy greenness of the far-distant hills
And the crystal-clear droplets that sparkle on them leaves

But, my angel, may thou have no tears to shed
If it was a dream, and a splendid dream it should be
God bless that it haft been fabulous
I shall dream again, to promise that thou live happy

It's poems like this that make me love poetry so much. This puts the most fantastic, intricate image in my heart. I really love it.
