A Tribute To Love

by Free Bird   Nov 25, 2007

This is a tribute to love
And the men it surrounds.
The ones that make you re-evaluate your life.
Or the others that keep you gauged and bound.
My father has his hold on me,
With the words that sprayed from his mouth.
His lips would start moving
And only stopped
When he revealed everything
That made him despise me.
The insecuries that followed
Were revealed everytime I flinched from a touch.
The loneliness that followed could not be hidden
Everytime the darkness would fall.
I trap myself in a world
Where only I hold the key.
I refuse to ever let myself go
It's my fault I will never be free.
Every relationship I've put myself into
Always ends on my terms
I pull away first
In order to make sure
I will never get hurt.
The men that I leave standing alone
Never had a chance
To begin with.

Thanks Dad
