Stigmata

Stigmata stinging like frosted icicle
burning passion subdued into cupped hands

Blackened eye and broken hearted
mocking birds sing a piercing tone

Single mans dilemma within a little dignity
abilities decree based upon a status

Resembling deceptive mirages
games of the heart played unfinished

Once surreal the harbor of love
now to be a vessel of betrayal

Mistrust enveloped in conciseness
marked opinions upon the disgraced

Dancing within the shadows of self blame
never again the offering of a name

Drowning amounts a river bed of sanity
untold pain whispered in a silent laughter

I cannot tell you how haunting these lines are. Just know that you are a wonderful man and all things happen in time.

    My sweet Sam,

No matter how tough life will become, please remember you will always have me as a friend.
I read these poems and cry, my sweet, because I don't understand why a good man like you has to have such a hard life.
