Abuse and Wishful Ignorance

by BrokenREALiTy   Nov 26, 2007

Listen for the screams, and you don't hear her.
Look at them, only to think "Oh, how cute!"
Truth is, everything only seems so perfect,
Cause people keep their mouths closed.

You don't notice the bruises on her back,
She falls into his arms only to end up coming scratched.
Disregard her flinches and the all-too-happy smiles;
Thought comes across, but you think you're delusional.

Dug herself a grave six feet under,
And without thinking, you gave a hand along the way.
She goes through that door, out black-and-blue,
Begging rescue with her eyes every time she peeks at you.

Completely oblivious, you wish them one year,
Two weeks later her seat is empty.
It might as well have been you.

I agree, not one of your best, but you're still so amazing that even this has it brilliance.
Your word choice is so captivating! The stories you tell are so descriptive and full of emotion that I just get blown away everytime.
The only thing about this poem is, I feel like you lost committment, or you lost that spark near the end.
    But it's still excellent, and still get's a 5/5.
