Christmas Time

by Beautiful Chaos   Nov 26, 2007

Christmas is the time of year,
Meant to warm your heart,
A time of family and of friends,
With good will to impart.

Now parking lots are filled with cars,
Hands are filled with cash,
It's all about how much you get,
Tradition in the trash.

A shoving match inside the store,
To get the cool new toy,
We all know that's how you spread,
Some cheery Christmas joy.

The greatest gifts I ever gave,
Were made with my own hands,
Time and thought were factored in,
Unburdened by demands.

With my daughter, every year,
One gift is a donation,
Any charity that she likes,
We're laying a foundation.

Taught compassion in the home,
Shown what's truly real,
Helping others everywhere,
Sacrifice to heal.

Christmas time just warms my heart,
And if I never hit a store,
A gift's still waiting, made with love,
I hope you do adore.

Christmas isn't one of my favourite topics... I'm basically Scrooge reincarnate. Yet this poem really touched me, it shows what christmas ~should~ be about.

The way it seems in todays society is thjat it's just seem as a commercial event .. a way for big companies to get more money. That's why i dislike it.

You put into words the way that I feel Christmas is supposed to be.

Ok, I appear to have rambled on for a while about the content.

Solid rhyme scheme all the way through makes this a really enjoyable read.

Really nice work, keep it up.

    ~Pete.
