I tell everyone that we've grown apart, Yet I still hold you dear to my heart. I told my friends that I don't love you anymore, Yet for some reason you're still the one that I adore. You dumped, so I left, Yet now my heart is quite bereft. Another man fell in love with me, And I tried to be as nice to him as I could be. While he and I teeter on the edge of a date, I'm still in love with you, and that I hate. I looked at the pictures of us last night, Those memories on the beach with that old red kite. Those embarrassing pictures from the fair, I should've known when you said, "It's a dare." Now long after you've said, "It's over," I'm still in love with you, And the heart-wrenching feelings inside make me so blue. I'm really trying to, what was it?, "go our separate ways," But the truth is that I'll love you, for the rest of my days.
