Subvenio

Why do you weep, lost and lonely one?
Fear no more the cold and hunger.
Come with me, sleep in my warm embrace.
Lay down your weary head, rest now.
Soon you shall see all your fears melt away.
I have come to carry you home.
My heart is calling across this tragic night.
Be safe forever within my love.
Hold on little one; let me nurse those wounds.
In this land of shadows, a pale moon rises.
Don't say this is the end, I've come too late.
Hope fades, your soul passes through silver glass.
Your grey suffering is over at last.
Dream now no more of tears upon your face.
The dawn breaks, light you at least tasted at the end.
You and I will meet again, slumbering in my arms.

....For the sick kitten I couldn't save....
