X Wishing On The Sky

by Sole   Nov 26, 2007

Drunken nights spent on the rooftop
Hip flask of whisky in sweaty hand
Thinking of falling
Wishing you could fly

Focus lost, the floor twists and turns
Stumble forwards, just miss the edge
Thinking of plunging
Wishing you could try

Footstep closer, reach for the stars
Catch one in your hand, awed at it's glow
Thinking of laughing
Wishing on the sky

Fumble in pockets for narcotic aid
Lips part, cracked and anticipating
Thinking of jumping
Glint in your eye

Wind rushing past your ears
Soar up into the night
Thinking of nothing
Drunk, drugged, dead,

On the floor you lie.

Wow that was a powerful ending leaving me breathless. The flow you created here was different from the other poems I read but I liked it :] Your imagery here was just amazing which is what stood out to me from this piece. It's as if you ripped me from my reality and took me on a journey with your words. I just loved it. Well done *5/5*

This is scary, but amazing at the same time. The beginning is awesome, but the end is even more... I can't even think of a word to describe it. Really great work, here. And a great title. =]

This is quite an unusual format which to me makes the poem all the more desirably unique I also am impressed by the thought provoking deep theme in other words I really enjoyed reading this
