What an amazing way to word that. you can visualize a bent spine both literally, but also metaphorically like you intended to. Anyone with an actual "bent" spine knows the pain and problems that come with it from it's unnatural curve and so you can relate that to her symbolic bent spine and the pain she must be going through wishing she'd never gone down that road.
