I'm A Fake

by Beautiful Chaos   Nov 28, 2007

Tainted on my face,
This smile is not real,
It doesn't say a thing,
On how I truly feel.

It is easier to smile,
Then no one asks what's wrong,
No pointing out your weakness,
Outside you seem strong.

With friends you seem happy,
At home you just cry,
No one is the wiser,
No one's asking why.

Two different worlds in which you live,
But one day they will meet,
You cannot hide forever,
Living incomplete.

Don't be afraid to share your pain,
With those who really care,
Life's too short to cry alone,
And wallow in despair.

This is the first poem of yours that I didn't wholeheartedly love.

The story being portrayed is a wonderful one, and very touching. It's a good lesson for all to learn; bottling up emotions and feeling alone will only ever made you feel more of the same. Share your pain and anguish with those that love you.

My main concern with it was that I didn't feel it had full-bodied images you usually cram your pieces with. The one thing I truly love about reading your poems is how vivid they are .. sadly it appears to be lacking in this one.
On a smaller note, the second and third stanzas don't seem (to me) to flow quite as nicely as the other 3.
I think it was these lines that threw me ..

    "No pointing out your weakness,
    Outside you seem strong."
    &
    "With friends you seem happy,
    At home you just cry,"

It is a nice piece, but, I don't think it's your best work.

    ~Pete.
