Speed Kills (acrostic)

by David   Nov 29, 2007

Dedicated to my Friend

Speeding kills
People young and old
Everlasting regret and sorrow
Everyone is still told
Drink and drive, you bloody idiot

Kind words are irrelevant
Innocent passengers die
Life ends in an instant, C R A S H
Loving parents and friends left to
Sob and try, just try to prevent it happening again. . .

So please don't drink and drive or drive at excessive speeds. Yeah it might be ok 99% of the time, but just think of that 1%. That 1%, their lives, !ARE! worth more than the risk of speeding. And why speed? To save a few measly minutes?? Your life might end and you will be forever late.

First of all, I'd like to say that I hope this isn't written from personal experience.. it seems that way though> If it is, I'm terribly sorry for your loss.
Secondly, you haven't posted on here in a long time, I hope you do start again soon, lots of people miss it.
Thirdly, this is an excellent piece. Simple, yet exploding with emotion. The flow is good and you put a meaningful message and lesson in this as well as telling a story too.
    Well done, David.

    Hey!!!!
David, how nice to see you posting again!
You are very right...we should all leave the bottle alone when we have to drive. I know from another friend in Oz punishments are severe when you get cought!
Your poem is beautiful, by the way.

Talk to you soon, my dear friend

    *hugs*
