Window of Hearts

by InvisibleHourglass   Dec 14, 2007

Your hand flew across the foggy window
Heart after heart after heart
appeared on the slippery glass
Then, a moment of hesitation
and your hand flew across the window once more
wiping out every heart

your hand hovered for a moment, shaking
Then dropped to your lap with a smack
your shoulders rose and fell in a silent sigh
What were you thinking?

Leaving love behind?
did it symbolize anything at all?
Those hearts?
the ones now gone, smeared across that window
as students ignore you,
the girl sitting alone?

Did you care?
or feel better those hearts were gone?
That sigh,
what did it mean?
I was so curious to ask,
but knew i couldn't

So That's why i sit here and wonder
about those hearts
those ones you drew on a cold winter's day
with snow dotting the other side of the window
and your shaking hand with your silent sigh
you sat alone,
drawing those hearts
And I wondered
who deserved those hearts

It was really just me watching a girl draw hearts on the bus' window...... does that answer your question? I'm a student as well, not sounding nearly as young as i am

I may have read it wrongly..? Maybe I'm too cynical.. ?? I picture not just a man, but a teacher.. your mention of students.. I either read too deep, or too shallow.. Maybe he ponders over all he's lost.. maybe you wish it for him.. Maybe he was untoward with his students.. Oh, I'm so confused!! lol.. sorry :-)
Please tell me this wasn't as sinister as I mis-read..? Well done, though, as it flowed beautifully.. xx
