The Day The Earth Stood Still.

by Teria   Dec 15, 2007

The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Lighting bolts line the sky,
burning bridges, rivers cry.
Swallowed whole by your love;
cherished memories up above.

Float away, my darling boy.
Show dear God every toy.
Wipe the tears from Jesus' face,
as I keep running the human race.

Chant me lullabies as I sleep,
whisper words when I weep.
Hold me close, my darling boy-
and show dear God every toy.

Don't turn away from your fate,
I promise you we'll set the date.
I'll meet you there and hold you tight,
just sleep with me this one last night.

But, don't forget your loving mother,
and, I swear there'll not be another.
No one can capture the love I spill -
for, it's the day the earth stood still.

This poem is really good, but the part about the little boy was really cnofusing for me. I could't figure out if he was dying or if the woman was. Other than that I really liked your details of the world ending. Overall a good poem keep it up.
