The Altar

by Stacey de Luna   Dec 17, 2007

The rain pours down on her pretty white dress
She stands there in silence, A beautiful mess
The guests of this occasion have long since left
No one dared interrupt her as she gently wept
The man that she loves has left her alone
To care for a little boy, all on her own
As she stands at the altar, her heart slowly breaks
While the once pouring rain has now changed to snowflakes
Her sorrow and misery builds up inside
She waits at the doorway with nowhere to hide
The person that she has loved in every which way
Has deserted her on the most precious of days
Her cries for him echo down the chapel corridors
Her knees give in, she collapses on the floor
Her entire world shatters as she fall to the ground
The life she once knew is nowhere to be found
As her world slowly fade into the deepest black
She calls out once more, wishing he would come back
