i will no longer fight this battle
that was lost so long ago
i no longer want to feel
the pain of defeat
the deceitful hope of advance
or the sadness of another lost soldier

an unknown warrior
somewhere hidden in the shadows
or camouflaged in broad daylight
are willing to keep fighting
hopefully one day my barriers
will be torn down at your hand
for now i surrender this war
for the pain, agony,
and hardships it has brought
are not worth the trouble
to just end up back where i started
hurt and defeated
mending the broken
i have fought many fine warriors
each had his own tactics and strategies
but in the end
we all end further from our goal
than we started
for we are all fighting a losing battle
so we might as well give up now
