A Darkened Day in Late September

by George   Dec 18, 2007

A darkened day in late September,
Fires burned to final ember.
Demons walked above so bold,
On this, the day my heart grew cold.

I wandered, neither live nor dead,
And felt the emptiness that spread.
Felt it fill each worthless limb,
As worlds themselves began to dim.
The darkness deep consumed the Sun,
Claiming then the fight as won.
But from the sorrow filling all,
A light of hope I saw stand tall.

A darkened day in late September,
Fires burned to final ember.
Hope, come now in human form,
Let my frozen heart grow warm.

As night passed by before my eyes,
I felt from you the truth, not lies.
The clouds began to fade away,
As I saw kindness live today.
Perhaps you were the only one,
Beyond you truth be all undone.
Still you showed me people may,
Stand by friends, and not betray,
The trust that’s now so hard to give,
And that has caused me still to live.

A darkened day in late September,
Fires burned to final ember.
An angel sought to save my soul,
And called me from the darkness whole.

WOW! That was nothing short of Amazing! Great flow and rhyme. The repetitive lines weren't too much and the whole piece carried this dark feel, with just a ray of hope towards the end. It's so rare to find poetry as good as this on here. I applaud!
