Untimely Sobreity

by MissSideways   Dec 19, 2007

We missed important beats
The volume turned down low
I sense an all day droning
with clocks that tick too slow

A year that took forever
But still had gone so fast
Full diaries encased this treasure
And all our memories passed

Numb senses on his doorstep
Receive her empty smile
That wall that grows much higher
'Cause love just aint her style

Devoted heart of platinum
More precious than their gold
This mountain he'll keep climbing
The peak he longs to hold

His bare feet pierced by rocks
with slopes that just get steeper
The trees that block his path
The wounds that open deeper

Vodka poisoned whispers
The journal lock bursts open
Souls can grant forgiveness
But not forget what's spoken

Platinum fades to copper
The fire fizzles out
As words turn into fists
and whispers into shout

New Born sun brought darkness
Inside us, deep embedded;
The truth expressed in stupor.
The sobreness we've dreaded.

No more pain, I adore you.

Excellently written poem, filled with emotions expressed in a great way. You created fantastic and endlessly vivid imagery that took me to some other place. I like your choice of words in the whole piece and the superb atmosphere that you created.
    Amazingly done!
    Keep up!
