Stay One More Night

by Rebecca   Dec 19, 2007

I tightly embrace you in my weakening arms
I think of you daily and all the love and charm.
Your coat is on and your shoes are laced tight
I will not let you leave without a verbal fight.

I plead and beg to you, "Please do not go!"
I want to sleep on your chest and forever hold.
But persistent and stubborn you really are
You slam the door shut and stalk out to the car.

I tried everything, why do you have to be this way?
Why can't you see my hopefully eyes begging you to stay?
I cry to you, "Please wait!" as you reluctantly turn around
You face me with waiting eyes, eyes so lifelessly bound.

As a lucid tear is shed down my fuming cheeks
I collapse to the ground with feelings so meek.
As you run to me before my aching body falls
I whisper in ear, "I love you," and begin to crawl.

You pick me up in your arms and carry me away
You cradle and soothe me, telling me you'll stay.
But when the jaded morning shows it hateful face
You are gone once again, but your smell I can taste.
