Earthen Roses

by Erinbob   Dec 19, 2007

In the constant darkness I strain to see

What I was and who I am to be

Unless this sharpened shard's removed

My persistence -- spread thin -- ...and then reproved.

Instill this Voice whom I barely know

Make me graceful and let me show

I need this everlasting desire

Pick me up from this filth and mire

Straighten me, my limbs are bent back

My bones in the fire -- it's the marrow I lack

Instead of confusion let my sight remain clear

And let me hold on to the souls I hold dear

This time I'm serious... the questions are spent

No more shadows to the dreams I have lent

Curse what I've done in my past -- it shows

It pierces through to what everyone else knows...

Can they not see that I am different altogether?

Can they not believe in the power of your Shelter?

I hate this sand as it comes amiss

Let the rain cleanse away the oncoming abyss...

Let me grow into the armor You've created

I'll use the sword that I so foolishly berated.

Let me pick it up and understand how it's swift

Let me dance in Your presence and in Your Spirit drift

I hold all the pain of my past set aside...

...To remember only. It's in me You abide.

It's so clear as to Whom and to what and how

Why and where and when to bow

And every time someone asks me why

I'll answer, because, it's every day I die.

I die to the world -- to the flesh and the same

I was unclean and it was I who was to blame.

I'll slip on this white garment -- it's sheer blue and green

I'll polish the Sword until my face in it doth sheen

I'll dance with bare feet on the dews of the mist

It'll be ecstacy divine when Your Spirit assists!

In Your gaze watch me twist; watch me twirl

I'm lost in a daze and my silver garment swirls

In You I am thirsty, how I miss that inner peace

When I spread open my arms and I go down to my knees

Breathe upon me, in my veins rush Your power

The drops of eternity rain upon me in this everlasting shower

My hand upon my mouth, I surrender my flesh

And the scents of earthen roses rise to greet me so fresh.
