If the world was a stage

by Poetic Ninja aka Papachopchop   Dec 23, 2007

If all the world is a stage,
Then I set up quite a show,
With actors of my choosing,
And I have the starring role.

I made myself a script,
And believed my character well,
But in the end it is just pretend,
A self created hell.

The feelings that I have for you,
Can never really get a chance to grow,
For this is fake and not for real,
A working little placebo.

So shall I continue?
To the second act?
And lock up my heart,
And make me a pact,

To never again,
Mistake the stage for life,
For when the curtain closes,
It is the end of this flight.

    Very interesting and creative write.
I like your descriptions, they're truly great and very vivid. Whole idea for this poem is good, and some thoughts in it are very clever. Metaphors and whole atmosphere are truly good.
    My favorite stanza is:

    -I made myself a script,
    And believed my character well,
But in the end it is just pretend,
    A self created hell.-

    Keep up!
