The Public Speech

by Laurenf7   Dec 23, 2007

I take a deep breath
And look at their faces
Am lost for words
By their emotionless actions.

I take a large gulp
Beginning to speak
I am shaking so much
My knees turn weak

I looked up
His eyes I caught
Helped my confidence
By the smile I got

I blank out the room
Pretend there is only one
Finish my speech
To find me throat gone numb.
