Sky High

by Sean Allen   May 13, 2004

O for lack of faith,
It grew up so high.
So high now
That it gashed the sky.
Tore the sky.

And now it is finished,
They all could let go.
Finally let go,
Let the wine flow.

But this ladder,
With our fingertips
In the Heavens.
We knew what was a matter,
We knew what we were doing.

Until we didn't.
Hearts filled with treason,
Of id replaced
All right and reason.

The garden was ours!
How foolish it all seems now.
To imagine they would allow
It to continue on.

The rape of Eden
Would not go unpunished.
And so the ladder,
Down, down it crumbled.
Every cranny and every niche.

And I can't understand you.
