Bittersweet

by QuietDreamer   Dec 25, 2007

Untouched by life
Not told of truth
Skipping and smiling
Satisfying her sweet tooth.

Gumdrops and lollipops
Sugar-free if she were bad
Never knew the privileged life
That she once had.

Stripped of her life,
Money, and Snickers
Poor and abandoned
Every day growing sicker

Once in a while she may get lucky
A butterscotch left in the street.
Begging at the feet of the happy
Wishing for her life once elite
