The Glass Is Empty-- Sing A Song

by Soulful Ensemble   Dec 28, 2007

You who sees the rainbow in the dirty water jets,
Don't be saddened, for your love that frets.
You who sees the glass half-full of dirt and smiles,
Don't forget everyone has their times.

And everybody smiles and cries, don't regret,
Your feelings that will make your bed and lay you in it too.
Theres enough time for all of us to sweat,
And take out the trash in the morning to clear the view.

You hear "why's?", and "how's?"
I hear "Why not now?"
You listen closely to the beating of your heart,
I like to think you're smart.

I like your eyes, when they glisten,
You act tough, but I dont listen.
I know you cry-- I know you feel,
Otherwise, how can you be real?

In the morning, when the rain will come,
The weatherman says you'll be gone.
What does he know? Hes just a bum,
Playing games in the snow; feeling the wind on his thumb.

Nobody really knows how hard the rain will fall,
You can come with me and try to see
If it even falls at all;
Leaving our hearts empty like the hollow trees,
Eaten from the inside by those bees.

The science man says the sky will fall,
Hes kept the facts written in his logs.
He drafted them carefully against the wall,
And all of this was done amid the fog.

Don't be scared-- don't be enthralled,
By the lies you hear them whisper hard and long.
Don't let them stoop you down to a crawl;
The glass is filling up with dong--
But you wouldn't be wrong to sing a song.
