In The Dust

by Rebecca   Dec 31, 2007

Walking through this arid land
I can't go farther, I can barely stand.
Dust gets in my ears, nose and eyes
I am walking in sand that is full of lies.

My mouth tastes dry, like its sandpaper
A mirage I see, all water begins to taper.
Hot, blistering heat on these long days
Freezing nights is way too much to stay.

Blinded by grains of sand, so bleak
This desert is insanity in my mind, so weak.
Fighting this is difficult, so much to give up for
I look around, nothing to lead else where, no door.

Walking blindly and mindlessly in the dust,
Strong-will and motivation is a must.
No memory, no thought of how I got here
And no way of getting out is what I fear.
