True Beauty

by FELTON PHILLIPS   Dec 31, 2007

The eyes cannot alone true beauty see

It takes a lot more from you and me

Beauty is more than that which is seen

No matter the vision, how clear or keen

It is expressed from the inside out

This is what true beauty is about

The eye is just a tool that cannot see

Beyond what is learned by you and me

Beyond the milieu in which it has been immersed

The eye cannot conceive the best from the worst

If one believes that beauty is solely defined by sight

One would believe that wrong is right and day is night

The texture of one's hair and the color of one's skin

Cannot define the beauty within

The mind and the heart have a true duty

To discern and to clarify the truth of beauty
