Stop To Pause

by nihility   Jan 2, 2008

Life makes everything difficult,
Breathing in your sharp breaths,
Crying at night till dawn,
And just hoping for death.

A girl who's beaten,
Stands strong to this day.
Her gleaming smile,
Is already soon to fade.

One mustn't tread in fear,
Waking up her mother,
Only leads to another beating,
One by one, another after the other.

What did she do,
To deserve such a treatment?
Did she falter wrong,
To leave her so beaten?

One wrong step to lead her,
Cuts from her mother's knife.
Mom's fist comes crashing down,
Bruises from her mother's strike.

Using the corner as her protection,
As she crouch there crying,
The cuts and bruises becoming her life,
Having yet, another soul dying.

Can you see her?
Crying in the corner of her own self pity?
Beaten so brutally,
You can't see her dying off so quickly?

I can see the lies,
Stored and hidden away.
Behind the fake smile,
Is proof to the suffering of everyday.

I have that same hurtful look,
Just with a different story to tell.
Of this girl who is my friend,
Knows life to be unveiled.

A story of a girl,
Who is my friend,
Dear to my heart,
All the way to the end.

As for my own story,
Is to be left untold.
Whether to choose,
It's never going to unfold.

Emotions to trigger,
Pain to cause,
Take your last breath,
Turn to pause.
