Old oak tree

by LuCkYgIrL0409   Jan 3, 2008

I stand on a hill just watching the grass grow

Watching the wild animals flock with no worry

As the grass grows around me Ill still stand to enjoy the happiness of the world around me

When my leaves grow old l'll still stand tall watching the newest generation grow beside me

Ill be the one that there to watch over them when they are gone, Ill be there to feed them and to give them the shelter needed

Ill be still standing tall

As the blaze burns my body, I could only stand still
Yet I know a new life will grow within me

And Ill still be standing tall

From the hottest weather; to the freezing cold

Ill still be standing tall

Im the last oak tree

Very very nicely done. I like to use trees in my poems.I have to say that I really like your poem. I think that the nature section of this site has to be where one can find really wonderfully written poems. They arent old and dull like so may other love poems. Im sure mine fall into that category once in awhile. I found your work very interesting. Keep up the good words and may all your writings bring you peace.
