Revenge

by Ariah Kaltesh   Jan 4, 2008

She takes a deep breath as she stands by the door
Of a casualty fallen from an unspoken war
Her fingers grip the doorknob as dust clings to her hand
Why he had to go she'd never understand

The door swings open with a protesting sqeak
As she looks around the tears start to peak
An ocean theme in the perfect room
Once a happy scene, now overcome with gloom

The bed perfectly made as the day he died
She remembers all of the tears that she cried
She steps near the table that rests near the bed
And picks up the photo, her eyes bright red

Her little brother smiles at her from the frame
Her happy face beside him as she takes the blame
An eleven year old soul that now rests in peace
And a guilt in her heart that will never cease

Their magic was growing and somebody's wrong
Magicians were feared and now he's gone
Had she walked with him back he might still be here
But instead she had to watch like a helpless seer

Their mind link was strong, but so was the hate
By the time she got there it was too late
Her brother's murder she had to see
Her own hatred grew as strong as could be

Now as she sits on her brother's bed
She closes her eyes and rests her head
Tears flow from her eyes like they haven't before
By the time she's done her heart is sore

Determination builds in her heart
And she swears to tear his killer apart
She'll use the same magic he tried to destroy
The magic that she'll use as her ploy

She gets off the bed and dries her eyes
And spots a locket on the table where it lies
She picks it up and looks inside
Her own face smiles back, filled with pride

Her brother kept it around his neck
But the clasp had broken, so in her pocket it went
She stepped towards the door and pulled it shut
As a whole new angry world opened up
