The Monsters Are Real

by brie kelly wise   Jan 4, 2008

She writes her name on the wall in eyeliner
She's a bittersweet mirror slave liar
Her veins inside scream its time to surrender

We all grow out of these dark poster walls
But we'll hide out in the high school bathroom stalls
Day after day, as another grave is dug another angel falls

They say there is no such thing as monsters
But they lie within as we begin to falter
As we pray our deteriorated legs will make it to an alter

We should never have to say goodbye
It's not there, it'll never be right
A hello should stay with us into the night

Maybe it's time we make it past our home
As long as you believe in these things that haunt alone
For the monster once inside me still roams
