Service With A Smile

by Megan Scaggs   Jan 7, 2008

I serve your food; I serve your drinks;
I serve your every need.
And though I chose a servant's life,
These words, I pray, you'll heed.

I'll always try to show respect,
On that we can agree.
I hope that you can do the same,
And show respect to me.

It is my job to see that you
Get what you're asking for.
The speed at which that job is done,
Depends on something more.

If, in the past, I served you well,
But you gave me the slip,
By walking out on unpaid bills,
Or leaving me no tip,

I hope that you will understand,
If there is some delay.
I'll serve you once I've taken care
Of customers who pay.

Such customers appreciate
The service they receive.
They do not act superior,
Nor practice to deceive.

So don't forget this good advice,
When next you crack that whip,
Like yours, my time is valuable,
Deserving of a tip.

I am paid to fill your orders,
Not go the extra mile.
But anyone I serve will still
Get service with a smile.

I'll always try to show respect,
On that we can agree.
I hope that you can do the same,
And show respect to me.
