Death by media

by Riley   Jan 7, 2008

When the earth takes back its mountains
And the seas drain dry of water,
The sky swallows whole the sun
And the winters just get hotter
Where will we be?
Will we ever be able to pry our eyes
From the glowing screens we watch so dearly.
Will we even notice our blackened skies,
Or the beauty missing from us so clearly?
We can watch with un-withering patience
The world through a window of flashing lights.
Colors from a scientific source that we don't understand,
Yet we watch it through the night.
Have we a fresh breath in our lungs
Since the days when we saw the sun?
Will we live forever in simulated company,
Or has this dependent life just begun?
Will the flowers wither away slowly
And turn to dust before we see its bloom?
Or will we not see it at all,
And not notice it's fateful doom.
Can we sniff the scent of the grass
And the wild boars that we trap in fear?
Or are we still blinded by that colorful screen
Which we always hold so dear?
We've chosen to live our life through that box,
When everything heard, seen, and felt is fake.
It has already sucked up your mind and body,
What else can it possibly take?

    Oh my gosh, darling.
I love this to pieces. xD

It's amazingly written, such true meaning. And, I just love it.

At first I thought it would end all . . . I don't know. Different. but, it didn't You stayed on topic, from beginning to end.

I would paste my favorite part.
But, I'd have to pasted the entire thing, so we'll skip that part. xD

I like the vocabulary and the quesyions you posed the in poem, but I think the flow was a little jumpy, and all the lines were different lengths. I think the poem would also look more neat and organized if you put it into stanzas instead of just all together. I like the comparison between natural earth and the media, too.
