Goodbye My Love, Goodbye My Sanctuary.

by Elexa Diamond Rose   Jan 8, 2008

Time seems to fall beyond me
Your words still ring in the depths of my mind
Bouncing hollowly among my thoughts
Leaving a awful taste in my mouth

You were my escape from here.
You were my sanctuary
My static home
Where I was always welcome.

On the miserable days
I would come to you in refuge
You would turn my soul to pure light
And I would forget it all

I do all I can to repair the wreck you left.
Yet, my new man is no comparison
His meaningless fake words are sallow
Compared to your beautiful truths.

You said goodbye that day
I said talk to you soon, my love.
You really did say
goodbye.

Months pass as I forget time
But I know it has been a good while.
Life skips along my aging skin
Zealously tearing at my emotions.

My sanctuary is gone.

Very Nice smooth poem. The last line, by itself really somehow hammers its message home all the more. Interesting, no?
