Another Day

You're screaming at the top of your lungs
And of course no one hears you
And you wonder
You wonder why after all this time
No one can see that you're hurting inside
And you scream some more
Thinking if you just keep screaming that someone
Will eventually come to your rescue
But no one shows.
You wonder
You wonder why it's times like these where
You finally are willing to open up to someone
That no one is there for you
And you keep screaming
Not that it makes anything different happen...
You are having trouble breathing, gasping for air
Why is no one here with you
Why is it that they can't tell you're not breathing?
Everything is going black and you shut your eyes
And bite your tongue to silence the screaming
You know it did no good
But now something is different
There is someone wiping the tears from your face
They have you grasped between their hands
And they are yelling for you to come back to them
Why now...
You wonder why it took so long but you also don't care...
Someone is finally here for you, should it matter how long it took?
You realize you still haven't taken a breath,
So you gulp in a huge breathful of air
And for once in your life, after opening your eyes to the world...
You're finally glad you're still alive
