The Importance Of An Imaginary Friend

by Bekka Smekka   Jan 9, 2008

The sky was big and blue above,
the birds flew happily and free.
As they point and laugh the little girl thought,
'Why do they pick on me?'

She never cried, she wouldn't cry,
because that would say its true.
When they beat her and hurt her,
it's more than black and blue.

But she had someone when she needed it most,
a quiet invisible friend.
she knew he would always be there for her,
he'd listen until the end.

But there were those who told her no,
that he wasn't really there.
They took away her one true friend,
and they didn't even care.

But that little girl is older now,
she has a better life to begin.
But occasionally when she's on her own,
she feels he's listening in.
