Indifference Fuels Fear

by Unknown   Jan 9, 2008

Indifference. There is too much. We cannot go anywhere without equality and understanding.

It is not animals that are our biggest fear. It is not the atmosphere; global warming or technology. No, our biggest fear is ourselves.

That I can understand.

I can understand that people, like myself, are afraid of other people. When there is a war going on and innocent Iraqi's are killed unnecessarily, what is to say that there wont come a day that I will be that innocent person? People kill people without reason. People kill for fun. People kill to cater to their needs.

It almost seems, at times, that people hate more than people love. That people kill more than people give birth. Of course, this is not true, but if we continue along this path, we could get to the stage where there are more killings than births, and the only births are a result of hate; rape.

Some Caucasians walk down the street. They see a Negro. Some of them are scared. This isn't because it's a primal instinct, nor a justified fear. This is because we, people, have put these thoughts into the minds of people growing up. A child who is never taught is branded as innocent. But what if that child continues that way? What if they go on, untaught, naive and oblivious to the facts and the truth? Black people aren't criminals. A large majority are forced to the streets because of racism and the fact that they are turned down wherever they go. They steal to support. They deal to live. This is not such a crime. Racism is more of a crime than theft, perhaps not in the eyes of the law, but for those with half a brain and a heart, they'll agree with me on that.

In time, with racism a non-factor, we can get to the point where we reach equality. We can have black leaders. But not only that, women leaders too. This is not something that will start in weeks, months or even years. No, this is something that can start TODAY. It is those children that once weren't taught of equality, more so of hatred and racism, that are running this country. But the next generation can be different.

To those that read this, be different. Not only in your lives, but in other people's lives. Teach your children, your friends, anyone, that equality is an option, not a dream.

You are amazing! Haha. This was so magnificent! So truthful, yet again. Made me want to cry, lol.

It really made me think, I mean.. I knew all of this already, But. For example: I am the type of person who loves people for who they are, not their color or race or whatever. If you are a nice person, humorous..etc.. I will become your friend. Yet, if I'm walking down the street by myself, and I see a black person or a Mexican, I get scared. I fear for my life. And I think it's so wrong of me. Because, I fear that it's hypocrisy and I hate that. But, I can't help it, not one bit. That's just the way of my thinking. And it could very well be because of the fact, that I've heard all these bad things about them. But, I do not hate them.. not one bit. And it's only when I'm walking by myself.
This right here, really made me think about that. And it kind of made me feel bad, because I wish I didn't think that way; or fear for my life when that happens.. But, I do & can't stop it.

You're going on my favorites & I can't wait to read more :]
    Lovely job.
