Junkie's prayer

by ben thompson   Jan 11, 2008

Poison flows through my body, needle hanging from my arm.
Riding through my nightmares fantasy causing untold harm.

Scrambled into utter madness in agony I sweat and cry.
Wondering how lives beauty has gone and passed me by.

Under a canopy of velvet sky adorned by twinkling night.
Ear pressed to heaven's door awaiting answers to my plight.

A golden sunrise looms near, I pray under a fading moon.
Faith in Jesus Christ assures me things will be better soon.

I then repeat a saying I've carried with me many long days.
Its always darkest before dawn, until the Lord lights the way.

This is truely a superb and well spoken piece. The last line is my favorite, "Its always darkest before dawn, until the Lord lights the way" I don't know how many times i've fallen down in the darkness and the Lord has helped light the path to which i was to follow. You have done an excellent job with this. 5/5
    thanks :)

Your words really touched me this morning. What a painful heartfelt write.

I then repeat a saying I've carried with me many long days.
Its always darkest before dawn, until the Lord lights the way.

How true these words are. Things do always seem darkest at night.
    Excellent job!
    Love cindy
