Master or Slave?

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 11, 2008

The master of benevolence creates good will
The masters of malevolence are gravely ill
Evil is a darkness depraved of true light
Only a shadow cast by the earth at night

The benevolent master creates free will
For which the malevolent ones would kill
Do we choose to be a master, or a slave?
On our journey from the cradle to the grave?

Dig holes, but the water is not created by a well
Pain must existence, but was it created by hell?
Free will is the path, while the destination is there
We may be the masters of our destiny if we dare

I really liked the thoughtfullness behind this poem, it's not just something that you can read quickly and soak in, you have to read it line by line in order to really understand it. It was really beautiful, though slightly dark.
    Good job.
