Sleep Stealer

by ntv650   Jan 11, 2008

My darling why do you steal my sleep?
You say it is because I sleep at day
That I cannot rest my eyes at night.
Work, labour and friends even they,
Do not bring that gentle, silent peace
Because in all truth, it is you.

Do not fear if your love is gone,
Nor allow my emotions be considered
If your love be truly dying
Save me the slowness of this death
And say it outrightly to me instead.

Then my mourning can begin,
For I will then perceive my insomnia
And learn that you and I are not to be.
Hold your excuses now... you are gone.
And have too many places to move on.

Answers to my call there are none,
Any words, words though well spoken
Are not chosen like they were before,
I know you all too well to longer deny
That you are growing far faster than I
But Your heart is exhausted of my love
And you are exhausted of me.

I thought this was a beautiful and just an all around amazing poem. I fell in love with it, it was truly sad and full of so many different emotions. Very neat and organized, like a professional. I can definitely relate to this piece. 5/5 <3 <3 <3
