What it's Like to be Depressed

by shadow   Jan 14, 2008

In between the shadows of isolation
Twisting like a disease inside this vast soul
Flowing through every pore and every vein
So broken, there's no chance of being whole

Plunged into a pool of the coldest water
Forced to breathe where there is no air
A walking zombie of hopelessness
Chained to the very walls of my despair

Each breathe is like a vial of poison
Every word falls off and dies away
A voice like a whisper in gusty winds
Where no one can hear a thing I say

The night offers tranquility for my mind
Soon tears flow, falling down like rain
Emotions intensify until all control is lost
What it is I feel, cannot be described as pain
