That Military Feeling

by Cara   Jan 14, 2008

I watch, wishfully staring out my window,
the waves of the ocean, brushing the sand of the shore making all the patterns on the once walked on sand disappear,
wiping away all signs of existence along the beach.

I watch as the ships come in slowly bobbing on the waves, their long sails blowing with the breeze.
I can hear the shouts of the sailors cheering that they are back and have reached port.
Families are all gathered round waiting for there loved ones to rush back into their arms.

I make my way down the pebbled path,
my apron and hat blowing about.
I stand around with all the anxious people and wait patiently.

I see your face as you exit the ship,
and for the first time since you left, I smile.
I wrap my arms around you.
I see all your bruises and scars,
I shudder as i get a military feeling.
I wipe the thought away as I stare into your eyes, you are back, and here to stay.
