A Trip to the Park

by Kalie M   Jan 14, 2008

Every day she sat on the bench, and softly closed her eyes
and pictured what life would be without his silly lies
she wouldn't be sitting on the bench alone, she knew this well
then began to create a new story of her life, without this living hell

her story seemed so plain, no problems could arise
she pictured herself happy and not needing replacements by her side
she saw herself as another person, trusting everyone a secret to keep
and a life where she no longer had to cry herself to sleep

her story seemed so easy, as she closed her hurting eyes
where she paid attention to family and friends, and could love another guy
she'd do well in school and laugh all day, with whomever she desired
she would be willing to love freely, and not be heartbroken and tired

her story seemed so simple, as her eyes remained tightly shut
if he were never in her life, her real story wouldn't seem so stuck
in her new life she smiled day in, day out, without a fake one at that
and she would always be willing to help others at simply the drop of a hat

her story seemed so effortless, as tears escaped eyes closed
then she felt a tissue wipe a salty tear from running down her nose
she opened her wet eyes to a boy never seen along this path
he sat beside her on the bench and told her stories til she laughed

right then her story became her life, eyes no longer closed for dreams
a story can be more than a story, if you create your own plot and scenes
she now knows you cannot be impatient, let life just willingly happen
she no longer sits in parks alone; she is what she imagines

her story is a look at life, and all she did neglect
paid no attention to friends and family, and nice boys she would reject
school was bad, she wasn't too happy, but smiled throughout the day
her story is a look at how a lot of people spend each of their days

sitting upon the bench, and softly closing each endearing eye
was one of the best decisions she's ever made throughout her life
sometimes one just needs to sit and reflect on how their life should be
before they can truly realize what honestly makes them happy
