Poverty

by Spoken Silence   Jan 15, 2008

Children begging down the street,
It breaks my heart to see you weep.
Cold nights without a shelter,
Makes me wish I could make it better.
Loose change from those who don't care.
Why did your mother never comb your hair?
This life was never meant for you,
I can never think of what I can do.
When you grow don't live this life,
Don't surrender to the knife,
Please change and do something better.
I hope that someday you may read this letter.
Don't give up and do what your parents did.
Mistakes were never meant to be redone.
It never was a lot of fun,
Change your life and make a difference.
Make sure those after you can say,
"I had a great life thanks to you"
My heart truly goes out to you.
