Every Once In A While, I Smile

by Hear You Me   Jan 15, 2008

Every once in a while,
I smile, when
I glance up from the ground to the sky,
And ignore the unanswered question:
'why?'

Then sun sparkles like fresh golden glitter,
Through the diamond dew
Drops,
On a spider's web,
That woefully whispers:

"Is it really better to have loved and lost,
Than to have never felt love at all?"

Every once in a while,
I shed a tear, when
The last rays of sunshine
peek lovingly near, and
Warms us with its last dear breath

We know it will offer comfort,
For though it's almost
Gone,
It is the same sun that has returned,
Through everything that's gone wrong,
And whispered:

"The rain some day will go away,
So dry your eyes for I'm here to stay."

Every once in a while
I gasp, when the
Clouds are so close they seem within grasp,
But I can't,
Because life has the feathery mist trapped,

I feel sorry,
For the clouds and for me,
For life has us all caged,
Don't you see? But
The clouds take pity,
And whisper to me:

"Life isn't a trap; it's the game for all to play,
I chose my role, as you chose yours, it will turn out okay."
