Vagrants and Strangers 2-25-00

by Phil Laws   Jan 20, 2008

We were vagrants, we were strangers
As we joined on barren earth
To plant discreetly out of danger
Our contributions to rebirth
Sharing sustenance and beauty
We forgot the flower wall
And the patronage didn't suit me
Others too often came to call
Now these invites to our garden
Shedding shadows, stomping rows
Are intruders that receive pardon
When you leave their weeds to grow
Then as growth separates in still
Out of time or short on cost
I will weed the flowers of evil
And ancient knowledge will be lost
Now as vagrants, we are strangers
As you've ignored all our toil
To plant with an early arranger
The rustic roots inflict my soil
