Take It, Or Keep It.

by uppercase   Jan 20, 2008

I'm enveloping my heart and tieing it down to the stakes, each rope binding down to keep it from escaping.
I've layered everything in cold and and a distasteful smell, every reason to make them turn around.
I wasn't expecting people to come with gas masks, heaters, and a motive to cut the rope.
Caught red handed, they've came for the very thing that I've camouflaged, they may not see it, but they know its there.
Breaking my back to keep the visible, invisible to the naked eye, I didn't expect experts to come after it.
The walls that burn skin and blind eyes are left untouched, and my defenses are left useless.
I don't think they see the alarms have gone off, and every rope is starting to strip thread from thread.
I'm viewing my destruction and I'll be there for my rebirth, even if I've fallen with a mouth full of dirt.
Each card I played, was thought out even though my heart knew it wasn't enough to become a legitimate excuse.
Might as well be caught naked in the shower than these people underneath my chest, I thought my heart beat was secluded at best.
Each finger burns at first, and each touch soothes eventually, just as though its been in cryostasis all this time.
I don't hear any words but I can feel them being said, every thought I want to believe is a lie, but what I see isn't nearly a lie as it was coming into my chest.
I've deceived many, and confused few, they all turned back, but these few, their intentions, I have something to do with.
