Warm Summer Day

by Courtney   Jan 20, 2008

Driving down a country road
All the windows down
Music escaping from the speakers
Hands out the window
Floating on air
Slow the car to a stop and abandon it
Racing each other to the river
Some of us jump in
And enjoy the rush of cold water on warm salty skin
While others test the temperature with their toes
Swimming throughout the day
Occasionally taking a risk
And jumping off the bridge to prove nothing
Our energy dissolves as the sun hides behind the trees
Laying in the grass as we think back to old times
And it's just another day of summer.
